Ranger's Retreat

The property has fantastic views and no visible neighbours apart from sheep and cows and the odd horse. The well equipped kitchen could do with an air fryer and microwave- I don’t particularly want to cook much on holiday. A great place to see the Milky Way in great detail- we were lucky enough to have a few clear nights. All in all a wonderful re set and a relaxing few days - retreat is the correct word to describe the place. Oh and we loved the soft furnishings and will look out for the brand.

Rangers Retreat was an absolute five-star stay. The views are stunning and the house itself is beautiful—thoughtfully designed, immaculate, and incredibly comfortable. The kitchen is very well appointed (loved having a proper coffee machine), the bedding was cosy and luxurious, and the fireplaces were ready to light, which made it extra special. The location is perfect too—peaceful and away from the busyness of Wanaka, but still close enough to everything. Would happily stay again and highly recommend.

We loved our stay at the Ranger’s Retreat. The house and surroundings were absolutely beautiful, and we had everything we needed for a relaxing few days. Would absolutely recommend!

What an amazing place to stay and relax, catered for everything possible

We booked a stay at Lake Hawea Station and were limited to two nights but wanted to stay longer. We then found Rangers Retreat and truly enjoyed our 3 nights stay at this little beautiful house conveniently located in the hills. Love it.
